Charles (Turnip) Townshend's invention, four field crop rotation?
Q. I got really confused with this. Since it is a four field crop rotation thing with not much information from ANY source, I need help figuring this out. Are all the crops (turnips, barley, clover, wheat) grown at the SAME time at different ares of the field and then they rotate every year? Or is ONE crop grown for one year, then it is cleared out and then replaced with another crop to be grown for one year so it takes 4 years to grow all 4 of the crops? Please help!!

A. Generally crop rotation is three crops and four fields. So, the first year, Crop A is grown in Field 1, Crop B in Field 2, Crop C in Field 3. Field 4 is fallow (nothing growing). The next year, Crop A goes to Field 2, Crop B to Field 3, Crop C to Field 4. Field 1 is fallow. Etc. It just keeps going.

Adding too much sulfur to an onion field what would happen?
Q. Suppose a friend of mine would add too much sulfur to his onion field thinking that it was a fertilizer, what would happen to the field, and the crops. How does the plant store sulfur?

A. just because he applied a heavy dose of sulfur doesnt mean the plant will suck it all up. but it will have an effect on the soils chemistry. large doses of sulfur can be very beneficial if the soil is high in magnesium or sodium. it will help remove these substances from the soil colloid allowing N, P,K,etc...to occupy the space. if the soil was balanced before i would make sure i had it tested after the sulfur has had enough time to break down (about a year).

question about the crops in virtual villagers 1 a new home?
Q. when you finish harvesting all the crops from the field, can you plant more?
Asked by neesa Y. - Tue Jul 1 11:34:53 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You don't need to replant the crops. The farm is on a set timer and crops will continue to grow forever. When there are no crops on the farm, clicking on the barren earth will show how much time is left before the new crops come in. How long it takes depends on the game speed you selected. It will take less time on fast speed and longer on slow speed.
